CGS 2760 - Advanced Operating Systems (UNIX/Linux)

This site was created as an aid to students who are studying the UNIX operating system in a PC environment. Our course uses the PC clone of that operating system ("Linux") as a working platform to give students practical experience with a UNIX-like kernel and a wide variety of new graphic utilities that have been developed to simplify its use.   Note: The publisher shipped the 4th edition of the textbook this semester, even though we had not yet decided to switch to it. It is very similar to the 3rd edition, except that it includes Fedore 8 instead of Fedora Core 5. This should not impact us negatively. Either version of the text will work. We will use Fedora Core 5 in the classroom for practice activities. I will supply copies of the DVD for anyone who needs it.
