The recognized official guardian of the WWW is an organization of interested individuals known as the WWW Consortium (or W3C). The consortiuim's web site is at [http://www.w3.org]. This site contains a home page about the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) at [http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/]. For more information on HTTP, the primary protocol of the web, read [rfc2068] - the Request For Comments document from the Network Working Group of the [Internet Engineering Task Force].
